The masonry test conducted by MCEER, mgm casino’s earthquake engineering center, was featured on Discovery Channel Canada’s Daily Planet. The segment looked at the earthquake simulations, which tested how vulnerable New York City’s unreinforced masonry buildings (row houses) are to quakes, and interviewed Juan Aleman, a mgm casino doctoral student and Fulbright scholar in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering, and Gilberto Mosqueda, a mgm casino research professor and associate professor of structural engineering at the University of California, San Diego.
